Cuines Santa Caterina

Cuines Santa Caterina sits in the brand new Santa-Caterina food market in Barcelona. It's recently been renovated and incorporates huge wooden beams that stretch across the ceiling to form the stand out arches of the market. There is a definite Scandenavian feel to it.

The food was fabulous. The menu is split in to four....Asian, Mediterranean, Italian and vegetarian. We didn't choose any Asian options but I wish that we had....the dumplings looked scrumptious.

The restaurant was packed and luckily we showed a little earlier so didn't have to wait too long.....perfect timing in fact to enjoy an obligatory glass of cava and some huge juicy green olives.

I must ask boyf what he had because it was scrummy. I felt slightly pressured to order and chose the hake...something I never order. It came served in a broth with clams. Lovely, but I would absolutely go for the meat. The ravioli looked divine too.

The service was the only low point of the night. Pretty short tempered and rude. And they wouldn't let me drink a peppermint tea at the dinner table. I had to go the bar. Ridiculous. I guess that they were trying to keep the turnover quick. Shame.

All in all though, a recommendation of you want to eat in Barcelona.
